'problems with dry hair'..

If there is one thing I hear more than anything else in the salon it is this, "My hair is in a terrible state, It's very dry". Imagine for one moment that you had a jumper that you washed every day for a year, how would it feel? probably not very good right!. A lot of people wash their hair every day, maybe with inferior quality products or with good one's used incorrectly.

Rule of thumb use a good quality shampoo and conditioner every time. One major myth is that the more conditioner you use the better the hair will feel. This is totally wrong as only the product that comes into contact with the hair will have an effect. All that the conditioner plastered 1 inch thick is doing, is costing you money. A good tip is to put a little conditioner on a section of hair, then smooth it along the hair shaft from roots to ends with your thumb and forefinger. This will make a major difference to how the hair feels, and you will actually feel the hair changing as you perform this ritual.

Also important is to follow the manufacturers instructions, if they say "Leave on for 5 minutes" then do that. You would be amazed how different the hair can feel when you take a little more time to use the product correctly.

My personal favourites at the moment are, Smoothing Conditioner from Biolage which is just amazing. I tend to think that my customers want an instant result rather than something that is going to take a few months to make a difference, and this will do that. Not for use on fine hair as it is far too heavy but if you have dry coarse hair then this is the answer to your prayers. If your hair is Blonde try KMS Blonde treatment, it is fantastic and if you really want to treat yourself try their leave-in Blonde creme.

For fine hair KMS Add-volume gel conditioner is great, leaves the hair shiny without being heavy at all.
